I absolutely love performing for people who love music and appreciate what musicians go through to do what they do.
I have been performing for about 60 years now, and i have performed in all kinds of venues including school classrooms, mental institutions, jails, rehabs, nursing homes, and family shelters in addition to dive bars, classy music venues, large halls, small hole in the walls, restaurants, music festivals, outdoors on the beach, on a boat, underground in the NYC subway and the Paris Metro, and in art galleries and I can tell you that some of the best audiences I have ever performed for have been in libraries.
I am performing at Gardens Branch Public Library in Palm Beach County on Tuesday July 14 in celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This is the fourth one I have done since June 30. I'll be playing some songs you have not heard me do before, songs by some of my greatest heroes like Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and more. Lyrics will be passed out so everybody can sing along together on some of these fantastic songs. I'll also do some originals about freedom, democracy, and the right to vote. Celebrate Freedom & America’s 250th
Award winning singer, songwriter, guitarist & harmonica player Robert Ross lights up a room as a one man band with a wide variety of roots music in celebration of Freedom & America’s 250th. The audience can sing along on some great American classics by some great American artists of the last 100 years including Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Louie Armstrong, Muddy Waters, Woody Guthrie, and Pete Seeger. I will be taking on a limited number of students regardless of age or current level of expertise.
Robert is a two time New York Music Award winner and a New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee. Robert is known for a wide variety of blues, jazz, soul, country, rock ‘n’ roll, folk, and other roots music. Robert worked and recorded with Big Joe Turner and also worked with Lightnin’ Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Otis Rush, Big Mama Thornton, Brownie McGhee, Memphis Slim, and other legends. One of Robert’s songs was recorded by Johnny Winter, and two other songs appeared on the soap opera “All My Children”. The Robert Ross Band has released 7 internationally distributed CDs and toured two continents. Robert has been teaching guitar for more then 25 years privately, and 13 years in NYC public schools. Robert’s work in the schools has been cited by the NY State Council of the Arts (NYSCA) for “best practices in arts in education programming”.
